Emberfall Chronicles

Emberfall Chronicles is the kind of mobile RPG I keep recommending to people who miss console JRPGs. You build a party of four, each with their own history, and the writing does the heavy lifting — characters bicker, change their minds, and occasionally break your heart. The turn-based combat is deep without being fiddly, with a timing element that keeps you tapping attentively.

Progression feels rewarding because it's not just numbers going up. Skill trees branch in ways that actually change how a character plays, and I ended up rebuilding my mage twice just to try different combos. The story stretches across dozens of hours, so this is a game you settle into for weeks.

My only gripe is the early tutorial drags a little. Push through the first hour and the game opens up beautifully. If story and party-building are your thing, this is easily one of the best on the platform.
